How it works
What actually happens, from first question to follow-up.
Docalo is a telehealth service for weight management. A licensed doctor reviews every case and decides whether treatment is clinically appropriate — treatment is never guaranteed.
The five stages of care
There is no obligation at any stage before the payment step, and no membership charge until a clinician has reviewed your case.
1. Free eligibility assessment
You answer a structured medical questionnaire online: your height and weight, medical history, current medicines, previous weight-loss attempts, and any conditions that affect eligibility. It takes about ten minutes and costs nothing.
The questionnaire is not a formality. The answers determine whether a doctor can safely consider treatment at all, so incomplete or inaccurate answers can lead to a case being declined or a prescription being unsafe.
2. Licensed clinician review
A licensed doctor reads your assessment and decides one of three things: that treatment is clinically appropriate, that more information is needed, or that treatment is not appropriate for you.
This is a clinical judgement, not an automated check. A doctor may ask follow-up questions through the messaging system before deciding, and may decline on grounds the questionnaire could not resolve on its own.
3. The decision — including when it is no
If the doctor decides treatment is not appropriate, you are told why, and you are not charged the membership fee. If you have already paid, you receive a full refund.
Being declined is a normal clinical outcome, not a failure of the process. Where the reason is something that can change — a condition that needs treating first, a medicine that needs reviewing with your own doctor — that is explained so you know what would need to be different.
4. Prescription and pharmacy coordination
If treatment is appropriate, the doctor issues a prescription electronically. You collect and pay for the medication at a physical pharmacy — Docalo does not sell or dispense medicines.
This matters legally as well as practically: selling prescription medicines online to the public is not permitted in Spain. The lawful route is a prescription issued by a licensed doctor and dispensed by a registered pharmacy, which is how Docalo operates.
5. Ongoing follow-up
Your membership covers messaging with the care team, weight and symptom tracking, dose-change reviews, and repeat-prescription support for as long as treatment continues to be appropriate.
Weight management is long-term care, not a single course. Follow-up exists so that dose changes, side effects and plateaus are handled by a clinician rather than guessed at, and so treatment can be stopped or changed when it should be.
How long each stage takes
Timings depend on clinical complexity and on how quickly you reply to any follow-up questions. We do not promise a fixed turnaround.
| Completing the assessment | About 10 minutes |
|---|---|
| Clinician review | Varies by case; you are notified when a decision is made |
| Any follow-up questions | Depends on your reply |
| Collecting from the pharmacy | Depends on your pharmacy's stock |
What the doctor is actually assessing
Understanding this makes the questionnaire easier to answer well.
- Your body mass index and weight history, including whether weight has been stable or rising
- Conditions that change the risk calculation, such as diabetes, thyroid disease, gallbladder disease, pancreatitis, kidney or liver problems
- Everything you currently take, because interactions and absorption effects matter
- Personal or family history that makes specific treatments unsuitable
- Signs of a disordered relationship with eating, which needs different care rather than weight-loss medication
- Pregnancy, breastfeeding, or plans to conceive
- Whether your expectations of treatment are realistic and whether you can attend follow-up
What Docalo is not
- Not a pharmacy. We never sell, ship or dispense medication.
- Not a guarantee of treatment. A licensed doctor decides, and may say no.
- Not an emergency service. For urgent symptoms, contact emergency services.
- Not a replacement for your own doctor. We ask you to keep them informed.

Free assessment. Membership starts only after a clinician reviews your case.
